Waingels is a very successful 11 to 18 Comprehensive school serving its local community. We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative teacher who has the ability to teach Psychology up to A Level and work collaboratively within the popular Social Sciences department. There are also opportunities to develop into the wider leadership of the Social Sciences department for the right candidate.

The Social Science department contains a wealth of subject specialists and is a passionate, respected and supportive department. The Social Science department is a growing department and contains a real variety of subjects which are popular throughout our students’ education (Psychology, Religious Studies, PSHE, Sociology, Health and Social Care, Criminology and Citizenship) and Psychology is offered both at GCSE and A Level with enthusiastic uptake in both key stages (AQA).

We are looking to appoint someone who is confident that they can deliver high quality lessons. The successful candidate will be able to feed into the wider character of our department.

We were very pleased with our recent Ofsted feedback (February 2018) and how it has endorsed the achievements, improvements and direction that we are travelling in. Ofsted noted that:

- Waingels “continues to be a good school…where standards are rising rapidly”

- Staff feel that they are “valued as their opinions are considered when reshaping practices” and that “people have the courage to try new things and we share success”

- “Pupils behave well in lessons and have a good attitude towards learning”- “As a result of improvements that leaders have implemented, standards are rising rapidly

Our students follow an academic core curriculum throughout Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. This includes the study of History, Geography and a Language as well as English, Maths and Science. But our students also have the opportunity to do a range of practical and vocational subjects including a wide range of creative and performing arts, physical education and other humanities like Business studies, Psychology and Economics.
