Winchester College seeks to appoint a well-qualified, dedicated and inspiring Teacher of Economics for September 2020.

The successful candidate will teach A-level Economics in the sixth form and be enthusiastic about promoting this popular subject, which enjoys an excellent academic record. Each year pupils from Winchester go on to study PPE, Economics and related subjects at Oxbridge and other top universities.

The College, which was founded in 1382, is a boys’ boarding school of 700 pupils. We are committed to the highest standards of academic excellence, first-class pastoral care and the maintenance of a broad and balanced liberal education for all our pupils. Through our non-examined general cultural studies programme (known as Div) we offer an approach to education which develops an intelligent and critical awareness of the world, strong communication skills and a confident ability to think independently and with originality.

This post will suit teachers of the highest calibre who will relish the challenge of working with able and articulate pupils in a historic site of unparalleled architectural beauty in the heart of Winchester.

All our full-time teachers are expected to act as tutors in one of the eleven boarding houses, thereby making a significant contribution to the pastoral care of our pupils. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to contribute in some capacity to our sports and co-curricular programme.

This position includes a generous benefits package and appropriate housing.
