Teacher of A Level Economics (with another subject if possible) - September 2023 (earlier if available)

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and dynamic Teacher of Economics (with another subject such as Business, Mathematics or PE & Games, if possible, but Economics remains the main focus) for a January 2023 start (earlier if available). The ability to teach outstanding lessons in A Level Economics is essential and the successful candidate will, in particular, have solid experience of and demonstrate an enthusiasm for teaching the full Economics syllabus to both Lower and Upper Sixth. The departments follow the AQA (Economics) and Edexcel (Business) specifications. The successful candidate will have excellent classroom management skills and be able to inspire and motivate pupils through a diverse range of teaching styles.

A level Economics and Business are presently the most popular subjects in the sixth form. Economics is offered at A level and Business is offered at both GCSE and A level. We are continually developing our range of teaching resources within the departments and we endeavour to provide a range of interesting opportunities for pupils to develop their appreciation of the subject matter and its relevance to the bigger, global picture. To this effect, experience gained in a previous career outside teaching would be of significant advantage.

Applications from ECTs will be considered but must be supported by a relevant degree and experience in industry, as well as demonstrating an outstanding ability to teach.

This is a full-time role. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the planning, teaching and assessment within the Economics and Business departments. They must be a team-player and demonstrate an enthusiasm and willingness to assist in study-related trips and events. Both departments offer professional and collaborative working environments where our students' achievement and progress are at the forefront of our teaching. We are looking for a teacher who consistently models excellent practice and can make a significant contribution to these strong and successful departments.

Interview dates: immediately for early applicants. As part of the interview process all candidates will be required to teach an academic lesson. Preparation work in advance of the class lesson will be required and details will be provided prior to interview.
