About the role

Looking for a rewarding role that’ll advance your career and boost your income? OCR is looking for AS/A Level Economics examiners to join our team this summer!

As an examiner, you’ll mark completed papers using a mark scheme. The marking window typically lasts 2–3 weeks between May and July, and you'll work alongside a supportive team and supervisor.

As part of our commitment to continually enhance our processes, we've made some exciting changes to economics assessment this year.

These include:

  • refined mark schemes, making the awarding of marks even easier
  • consistent marking and moderation across all papers
  • enhanced training to equip all our examiners with the best practices for accurate and effective marking

Why join our team?

  • Boost your teaching skills: Strengthen your knowledge of economics and teaching methodologies, increasing your confidence in the classroom
  • Master the assessment process: Gain a deeper understanding of assessments to better prepare your students and bring fresh ideas to your teaching
  • Collaborate and network: Work as part of a team, share ideas and build a support network with education professionals across the country
  • Shape the future: Play a part in shaping how economics is delivered and assessed

What we’re looking for:

You don’t need to be an OCR economics teacher to apply! However, we do ask you have:

  • A teaching qualification or a degree in a related subject
  • Relevant teaching experience within the last three years. We’ll also consider PGCE students who have completed the classroom teaching element of their course.
  • Previous or current teaching experience within the UK education system
  • The ability to use IT confidently and effectively.
