Span! A Board Game To Test Knowledge of BTEC National Health & Social Care Unit 1, Human Lifespan Development

The aim of this fantastic FREE lesson activity is for students to test their knowledge and understanding of Unit 1 by completing a board game.

The board game is designed to provide students with the opportunity to answer a variety of questions linked to predictable and unpredictable life events (Take a Chance Cards), factors affecting lifespan development (Factor Cards) and Unit 1 theories (Theory Cards).

BTEC National Health & Social Care Unit 1 examiners often report that some students are still failing to show balance in their arguments which is an essential skill for the extended response questions. The Dilemma and Decision Cards encourage students to provide a balanced response to the dilemma or decision presented on the card.

Some students struggle to consistently use specialist Unit 1 terminology accurately. On occasions, numerous spelling mistakes of the key terms are evident throughout student responses. The Spelling Spots, indicated by a question mark, require one member of the group to pick up a card and ask the player to spell the term.
