About this event
This course is led by Tom Fay, Vice Principal (Teaching, Learning and Assessment) Rochdale Sixth Form College and is supported by members of the tutor2u Teaching & Learning team
During Outstanding Classroom Learning - The Toolkit for Every Teacher, we will:
- look at the characteristics of outstanding learning and our roles as facilitators of learning
- discuss how we can personalise leaner strengths to support their development and readiness for the examination process
- take a systematic approach to isolating and reducing the impact of identified barriers in learning
- evaluate strategies to move your teaching forward through a realignment of mind set and the development of reflective thinking modes
Learning is a messy business that goes on inside people heads and involves a repertoire of skills that are often difficult to teach! Whilst the process of learning is well understood the teaching strategies to impart deep learning and understanding are often misunderstood. Outstanding lessons are often seen as the "holy grail" of education and this course will take a forensic look at the main components of such lessons and analyse the strategies that make the biggest difference in the classroom.
The 21st century learner poses many obstacles for teachers as we try to balance the delivery of a demanding curriculum with the development of student skills sets. This day is aimed at augmenting and discussing a teachers "tool kit" so that they become more prepared to resolve the barriers that exist in our commitment to delivering outstanding lessons. In the final session we will look at how we can make tweaks in our daily practice to reflect and share our learning as we strive to maximise the life chances of the young people in our care.
This event will be led by Tom Fay, Vice Principal (Teaching, Learning and Assessment) Rochdale Sixth Form College.
Delegates will leave with their personal copy of the tutor2u Outstanding Classroom Learning Toolkit and a comprehensive collection of other teaching & learning resources that are designed to share with all their colleagues back at school or college.
