Learning outcomes

The session content for this workshop is outlined below:

Session 1: Paper 1

10:30-11:15

The opening session focuses on Paper 1 using core topics from Themes 1 and 4. We explore techniques and strategies to develop application and write winning paragraphs. We finish with advice and examples on how to structure high-scoring responses to 4, 10 and 12 mark questions.

Session 2: Paper 2

11:15-12:00

Paper 2 is the focus of the second session. We draw on key topics from Themes 2 and 3 to explain techniques which will help students develop the depth of their analysis. The 20 mark questions are so important for students to master and this session will also suggest how to structure 20-mark responses with strategies to help students write strong, evaluative recommendations.

Session 3: Paper 3 (Investigating Business in a Competitive Environment)

12:15-13:00

After a quick leg-stretch we dive into Session 3 which is all about the Paper 3 pre-release. We will explore key aspects of the research task and consider how core topics from all 4 themes map to the confectionery market. We will also look at how to tackle the 8 mark questions which only appear on Paper 3.

Session 4: Nailing the Numbers

14:00-15:10

In the afternoon session, we will focus purely on calculations and the key quantitative skills with plenty of activities for students to practice. We have selected topics that students usually find challenging, such as moving averages, investment appraisal, network analysis and ratios. An interactive, but demanding end to a day that is unrelenting in its focus on the exam skills for success in Edexcel A-Level Business in June 2018.

Course package

Each student place is priced at £25 (+VAT) for a full day of tuition. Each student is provided with a comprehensive Grade Booster booklet that also contains follow-up activities to reinforce the exam techniques developed during the day.
