21st February 2015
What could become the world's largest offshore wind farm was given the go-ahead this week by the UK government. Situated 77-130 km off the Yorkshire coast, the Dogger Bank wind farm project received the approval of the Secretary of State for Energy and the Environment.
The plan for up to 400 offshore wind turbines has been proposed by 'Forewind' – a consortium company of four major energy businesses: SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy), Norwegian Statoil and Statkraft and Germany's RWE.
