UK Trade in Goods Deficit reaches new record in 2015

A familiar refrain: the trade deficit remains a problem and so it proves once again in the 4th quarter of 2015: the annual deficit widened by £1.9bn to a record £125bn, with the quarter registering a deficit of £34.7bn. That shouldn't be a surprise, in as much as the UK's economy is larger than ever before, but it is impeding growth - by around 0.2% according to some estimates and it makes the UK recovery increasingly dependent upon domestic demand.
