UK Oil and Gas Sector Sheds Thousands of Jobs

Oil and Gas UK have reported that there's been a precipitous decline in employment in the UK oil industry - and this could have a had a negative multiplier effect, not least on the Scottish economy. Further, this is likely to continue as firms cut back on investment and retrench. Which makes some of the claims of the pro-independence lobby look rather shaky in a world with low oil prices.
