Reuters special reports on Agflation

Geoff Riley

30th March 2008

Reuters is producing a special series of reports on the surge in global food prices - the phenomenon known as aglfation.

Food is fast becoming a new asset class and speculative activity has been identified by the IMF as a major factor behind the rising price of food around the world.

Despite unprecedented levels of agricultural output, farmers are struggling to keep pace with massive global demand.

To mark the momentous challenges the world now faces, Reuters is running a series of stories on the effects of so-called agflation and considers the policy options available to governments. For more on this, Reuters Global Commodities and Energy Editor, Richard Mably, speaks with Reuters reporter Darcy Lambton.
