Poundland and 99p Stores Set to Merge

A classic example of horizontal integration, and in this instance, although market concentration has increased, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) doesn't believe that any merger will have detrimental effects upon consumer welfare.On 25 August 2015 the CMA provisionally cleared Poundland Group plc’s anticipated acquisition of 99p Stores Ltd.
