How does the EU spend its money? A quick teaching resource
14th March 2016
Perhaps you (and your students) are becoming a little tired about the EU referendum topic (only 101 days to go until the poll!)? However, here's a quick teaching resource to stimulate discussion about one of the key referendum points - does the EU spend the revenue that it has appropriately?
The resource is fairly straightforward. Students are presented with the 7 categories of EU spending and asked to decide what proportion of overall spending (960 bn euros up until 2020) do they think applies to each category. After giving students a few minutes to make some choices the teacher can then go through the actual answers and lead a quick plenary on any differences expressed by the student groups compared to the reality.
