WOW Business 2015 - A Sneak Preview

WOW! Business 2015 is our brand new resource packed CPD for ALL business teachers. It follows in the huge footsteps of TBBLE (The Best Business Lesson Ever) and provides teachers with a set of brand new resources that can be used immediately within the classroom. The format of WOW! Business is simple. A day dedicated to making business lessons more engaging with a set of resources and strategies covering key topics within the business curriculum. We find that the best way to experience the resources is to have a go which makes for a fun and interactive day.WOW! Business 2015 consists of over 35 different resources developed by a team of experienced and passionate business teachers. I have briefly described a selection of the new resources below
Decisions, decisions - an activity that can be used to illustrate the concept of opportunity cost as well as developing the all-important skill of evaluation. Students are presented with a number of tough real life choices to make. Which option will they choose and why?
Profit Mystery – a challenging card game used to teach profit and loss accounts. Students, working in groups need to piece together the mystery and work out if the business makes a profit or loss
Bungled Bookmarks – an engaging, kinaesthetic activity where students take on the role of production operatives in a factory making bookmarks. Can they work as a team and re-design their job roles to make the whole process more efficient?
The Only Way is Ethics – a challenging ranking activity with a twist. Students are presented with 10 business decisions and they need to rank them in order (most ethical to least ethical). Once they have justified their reasoning they then need to play the role of Devil’s advocate and argue why the least ethical decision is morally sound
External influences board game – an actual board game which encourages teams of students to consider how a range of external influences will impact on a particular business through the random selection of external influence cards. Will the external influence chosen benefit or harm the business in question?
Dynamic Duos – start your partnership lessons in style with this visually stunning resource. Students are presented with 24 different ‘dynamic duos’ and need to work together to work out the identity of the famous partners before analysing the benefits of working as a duo
Correlation/ Factors of demand grid – two resources in one! This interactive activity can be used to bring correlation to life as well being an excellent resource to enhance the teaching of factors that affect demand
Professor Yakells formula quiz – Professor Yakell loves spending time in his laboratory working out different business formulas. The Professor will provide students with a formula and check if they are correct by consulting his ‘Big Book of Business Formulas’. How many will your students get right?
We are Family – A kinaesthetic group activity for teaching organisational structures. Each student represents a member of the Smith family and need to organise themselves in a ‘human’ family tree. The activity is developed further to incorporate organisational structures
Value Added Letters – this resource introduces the concept of adding value through the use of a word and letter game. Letters are the ‘raw materials’ and words are the finished product. How much value can your students add?
