Interesting little comment on Newsnight last night, talking about the strikes in France. There’s a French journalist about 27 minutes into last night’s edition who observes that the difference in the way industrial disputes and strikes are covered is very different in France. The journalist argues that in the UK media coverage tends to focus on how disruptive and inconvenient a strike is, whereas in France the attitude seems to be much more sympathetic to the workers point of view.  Interesting point I thought - shows it can be done differently and cultural differences do matter.
