So , you’ve got your pens and cards then. Well find a topic , most of you doing AS will probably be doing ‘Family’. Have a look at your notes and see if you can divide them up into the separate sub-topics in the specification. For instance AQA family involves seven topics , the first being concerned with historical change in the family. So in this section you need to know the reasons for change from say extended to nuclear family , the main theorists, Parsons in this case and some of the arguments involved. Both Laslett and Anderson maintained that it was nowhere near as simple as Parsons maintained. Then write this stuff down on one of your cards and then re-check your notes to discover what you’ve forgotten. Perhaps write this down in a different coloured pen. This is what’s called active revision. It is more efficient than passively re-reading material and provides you with a neat set of revision cards
