A quick note to let you know about our speaker programme for the Business Teacher National Conference on 30 June 2011. We’re busy inviting people who we think would provide an inspiring end to a long academic year - and we’ve had two early invites accepted!

First up is Sir Terry Leahy, currently CEO of Tesco plc and perhaps Britain’s most respected business person.  Sir Terry is currently working for a week at the checkouts of his local Tesco stores (something he does every Christmas) as a way of keeping in touch with customers and employees.  Sir Terry will lead a conference session helping us understand the challenges of growing and managing a complex, multinational business. I can imagine there will be plenty of questions too from colleagues keen to get the inside track they can share with their students on topics such as leadership, branding, retailing and much more!

I’m also delighted that Kirsty Henshaw has agreed to join us and talk about how her appearance on Dragon’s Den has led her to become one of the most talked-about young entrepreneurs in the UK.  Did you see Kirsty in the Den?  It was perhaps the most emotional, inspiring pitch the Den has seen.  With backing from Peter and Duncan, Kirsty has gone on to achieve enormous success during 2010 with her Worthenshaw’s Freedom range.  A terrific case study for just about every business specification - and I’m hoping we can arrange a product tasting session too!

We’re hoping to have some other “big” news about speakers shortly.  In the meantime, provisional bookings for the conference are now being accepted - the link is below:
