Further to my earlier posting on resources for the UK syllabus, listed below are the US books I have as desk copies.

Using a similar rationale as for the AS component, students have been assigned with copies of William Storey’s book, given that he set the papers.

And, again, I have put them in some sort of order of usefulness.  Some are American in origin and are relatively expensive on Amazon.  But they are worth it as departmental resources.  Berman, for instance, is updated very regularly and comes in a variety of editions.  Mine, for instance, is the California edition and it goes into tremendous depth about that state’s politics.

McKeever: Politics USA (Pearson)
McKay: American Politics and Society (Pearson)
O’Connor and Sabato: American Government (Longman)
Berman et al: Approaching Democracy (Pearson)
Bianco and Canon: American politics Today (Norton)
Lowi et al: American Government (Norton)
Fiorina et al: America’s New Democracy (Pearson)
Singh: American Government and Politics (OUP)
Bennett: A2 US Government and Politics (Philip Allan)
Advanced Topic Master series from Philip Allan
Various authors: Politics Study Guides (EUP), e.g. The American Presidency
Watts: Understanding American Government and Politics (MUP)
Peele et al: Developments in American Politics series Palgrave)
Hames and Rae: Governing America (MUP)
Ashbee and Ashford: US Politics Today (MUP)
Grant: The American Political Process (Ashgate)
