Obama: first and last

President Obama’s appearance on the Jay Leno show did not quite turn out as he hoped.
One commentator has called Obama’s TV appearance as a “Fireside chat for the flat screen age”, a reference to FDR’s use of the radio as a means of connecting ot the American public. But I don’t recall Roosevelt ever insutling disabled people. But Obama’s comparison between his poor bowling skills and the Special Olympics will probably mean that the first ever American President’s guest show appearance is likely to be his last.
By appearing on the show Obama had hoped to reverse his slide in the opinion polls, which has been particularly marked this week after failing to find a firm footing on the financial scandals that have swept through America.
