The more we understand how the brain creates meaning the more we can communicate. Cognitive psychologists alongside physicists and others tell us that the brain creates meaning and out of this comes our reality - Model Dependent Reality. Tom Wujec talks about 3 areas of the brain that create meaning. The first is the ventral stream - the what detector( it tells you ‘what’ something is). It is activated when you give a word to something. The second part of the brain is the Dorsal stream and it locates the object in physical space. The third part is the limbic system. It is the part that feels things and produces our emotional reactions. These three areas of the brain help us to learn about things and create meaning in very different ways.
