Viewing the Playing Squad
Check the details of Duncastle’s First Team squad
Before the new season begins, it is worth looking at the Duncastle playing squad you have inherited. You’ll start a new game of THS with a squad of 22 players.
The First Team Squad screen allows you to see at a glance the size, composition and book value of the squad. You can also view the details of individual players, including some important data on:
* Status: Available or injured
* Ability: Playing ability ranges from very poor to very good. Playing ability can be changed by the coaching from the Team Manager, depending on who you select!
* Transfer Value: This is an estimate of the possible transfer fee Duncastle might receive if the player were put up for sale (see the section on transfer strategy).
* Book Value: This is the current value of the player in the Duncastle accounts (see Intangible Assets in the balance sheet). For some players, the book value is zero, since he has joined the First Team squad through the youth team structure. For other players, the book value is the price Duncastle paid when the player was bought by the club (a transfer in). The book value will determine what profit or loss is made by Duncastle if this player is sold. However, the real value of any player is what another club is prepared to actually pay.
* Transfer List: Yes or no; tells you whether this player is currently being offered for sale to other clubs.
* Weekly Wage: The weekly amount (£) that his player earns whilst at Duncastle.
Wages are by far the highest operating cost of the club and this is an important area to look at if you are trying to improve the profitability and cash flow of the club.
