Handling New and Saved Games
It is really easy to start a new game, save a game and load a game in The Hot Seat.
After an introductory video, the launch screen gives you the option to play a New Game, Load Game or play a Custom Game. A New Game of THS takes you to the start of Season 1 with a completely fresh start.
Saving a Game
You can save a game of THS at any stage. Click on the Save logo at the bottom right-hand side of the screen. You will be prompted to choose a file name and a destination folder. A game of THS is automatically saved in XML format, so simply choose the file name you require. It is a good idea to keep a separate folder on your hard drive or network for saved games.
Please note that saving a game in Seasons 3 or 4 takes a little longer than Season 1 or 2 due to the amount of data that has to be stored. You will be informed if the game has saved successfully.
Loading a Game
To load a game of THS, click the Load icon and browse to the saved XML file you wish to load. Once the file is highlighted, click Open and the loading process will begin. This may take a few seconds - you will be informed if the game has loaded successfully.
Custom Game
There is an option to play a simplified game in Season 1 where players are restricted in terms of whether a Manager can be replaced during the season and whether stadium redevelopment can take place. These options may suit teachers who wish to reduce the amount of decision-making involved in the first season.
Game Over
A game of THS ends:
* At the end of Season 4 - when you have successfully completed your stint as Duncastle Chairman
* If the business goes bankrupt
* If Duncastle are relegated at the end of any season.
