Finance Reports - Overview
There are several useful financial reports that you can view, print or download by clicking on the Financial Status icon on your desktop screen:
Once the first quarter of Season 1 has been completed (Week 11) you will have access to a Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement for Duncastle. These quarterly financial statements provide a useful summary and you can also drill-down to get more information about the key components of each statement.
The weekly Bank Statement is an important document. Here you see the individual cash inflows (e.g. gate receipts, merchandise sales) and outflows (wages, cost of sales, bank loan interest etc).
The Gate Receipts summary provides a useful snapshot of your success in attracting crowds to Duncastle matches and generating the most important source of revenue and cash! The crowd for a home Duncastle match will be affected by several factors, the most important of which are:
* Ground capacity - the capacity is the maximum number of supporters who can attend. Capacity is affected by the choices you make about stadium development and also other events out of your control;
* Ticket pricing - you should experiment with your ticket pricing strategy to see which one produces the best gate receipts;
* Advertising - running promotional campaigns can have a short-term impact on gate receipts, provided that supporters think that Duncastle are worth watching;
* Team performance - expect attendances to fall if Duncastle suffer a period of poor results, or an improvement in crowd size if the team put together a winning run.
The transfer summary shows the results of your dealings in the player transfer market. The decisions you take about which players to buy (transfers in) and sell (transfers out) have a significant effect on the financial position of Duncastle. You should make these decisions carefully - in particular ensure that the club has sufficient cash to be able to afford signings requested by your Team Manager!
You will see the cash flow impact of transfers shown in the quarterly and annual cash flow statements.
Don’t forget that transfers can have a significant effect on the playing performance of Duncastle, which in turn feeds into the financial position. We consider this in a little more detail later.
The Wages Summary also provides important management information. Wages are the most significant cost of the business and it is important to keep them under control. You can also use this report to see the effect on wages of your transfer activity.
The Merchandise Summary is a report from the manager of the Duncastle Club Shop. It shows the quantity, price, revenue and profit for each item of merchandise.
