‘What do you think we should learn in history today?’

Tackling pupil-led historical enquiry more effectively. Tuesday 10 November 2009, 9.30am - 3.30pm Bottisham Village College, Cambridge
A Lead Practitioner Seminar led by Kate Hammond, Head of History at Bottisham Village College and SSAT Lead Practitioner.  The Lead Practitioner network supports the transfer of effective and innovative practice in schools through seminars, run by teachers for teachers.

This event is suitable for any history teacher, from NQT to AST, who wants their pupils to lead their own historical enquiries more effectively and strengthen their independent learning and thinking skills.

A day spent trialling activities, discussing strategies, exploring possibilities, sharing ideas and learning about some of the best practice currently occurring.  Sessions will include:

What does a good pupil-led historical enquiry look like?
How can we get pupils “thinking questions” right from the start?
How can ICT generate and invigorate pupil-led historical enquiry?
How can a pupil-led enquiry be built effectively into medium-term planning?
What can pupil-led enquiries offer the G&T student?
All delegates will receive electronic copies of the resources, ready for use in the classroom, and will be entitled to participate in a free follow-up session on pupil-led enquiries outside of the classroom in the Fitzwilliam Museum in February.
