British Newspapers - superb opportunity to view contemporary views of Historical events
Recommend on Google+

I have found this site from the British Library very useful, for it provides contemporary newpaper articles. I was looking at Chartism with GCSE students and found that students were highly motivated when asked to read the whole article, as it was different to seeing a quote in a textbook. I had some of the larger articles printed onto A3 paper, students said it felt like handling artifacts. We also viewed some articles online, but found it difficult to quote from the PDF files, we solved this by printing them off and scanning them through text recognition software, thus having a digital and a hard copy. For source analysis these rather difficult texts would stretch even the most able, I can say that this site is a valuable resource, allowing us to view some sources in a different way. The one drawback is that it is, of course limited to British newspapers, and covers 1800 to 1899, but the variety of subjects; from the Napoleonic wars to the Boer war, Womens Suffrage and Jack the Ripper can mean that there may be one or two topics where this resource could prove useful, sadly some of the most interesting articles need to be purchased at a reasonable rate (£10 to see 200) , but I feel there is still sufficient on the freely accessable to provide good classroom resources..
