A pivotal opportunity?

David Kennedy, Professor of History at Stanford University, is to give a lecture at the LSE on the importance of the year 1945.  The event is free, and a great chance for those in the London area to hear from such an eminent historian.

From the LSE public lectures website:

“Winston Churchill said in 1945 that ‘the United States stands at this moment at the summit of the world’. Yet just five years earlier America had been an economic catastrophe and an isolationist bastion. How that transformation came about, and its consequences, will be the subject of this lecture.”
