Another important anniversary occurred this week as it is 40 years since the assassination of Dr Martin Luther King

Dr King, the civil rights leader, was shot dead on the balcony of a motel room in Memphis, Tennessee, by James Earl Ray, an event that sparked riots throughout America.

Suspicion surrounded the circumstances related to Dr King’s death, due in no small part to the words he included in his last speech – a clip of which is above.

The possibility of a conspiracy over Dr King’s death was ruled out by the US Justice Department in 2000.  Read more.
