Challenge your students with this PowerPoint game.  Great as a lesson starter to recap previous knowledge and easy to adapt to meet the needs of any subject or level.

The concept of the game is simple.  Can you students answer the multiple choice questions and beat the Running Man?  It is easy to set up and can be adapted to suit the need of any subject.

As an example, I have input some GCSE foundation and higher level science questions to this resource. (Thanks go to my Dad, ex Head of Science and Chief Examiner for the content)

Here is the file - as you will see, it is easy to edit/change it to suit your own questions:

Please note: The game is a macro-enabled PowerPoint - you must save it as such (.pptm) for the game to work with new questions.

Game Set Up.
• Open the PowerPoint file and click on enable this content on the security bar.
• Click on slide show and click on start.
• To enter the questions and answers, click on input questions, use the arrow icon to click onto next question.
• Once all of the 10 questions/answers have been added, press escape and click on save, giving the file name.
• Go to slide 13 and print off the slide.  Once printed on card and cut out, this will provide the voting cards to be used in the game.

Playing the Game
• This game can be played with up to 10 teams or pairs
• Open the PowerPoint file and click on enable this content.
• Click on slide show and click on start.
• Click on start the questions.
• The question will appear and the four possible answers will fly across the screen.
• When the man starts running, students must put the voting card with the correct letter in the air.  Their aim is to beat the running man.
• If the answer is correct and they have beaten the running man, a point can be awarded.
• Scores are added by clicking on “Team 1” etc.
• Click on the arrow icon to go to the next question.

Some feedback from a colleague who has recently used Beat The Running Man:

“I used this with 107 students as part of a Business Challenge Event, I was delivering.  It worked really well, kept the students engaged, focused on the question and by having a time limit on answering really added a bit of excitement.”
