The number of private renters in the housing market has increased by 1 million since 2005. The number of owner-occupied houses has fallen in this period. The data below would make a good delicious data piece:

This would make a great demand and supply in action piece also. Looking at substitutes and the reasons behind the rise in renting and the fall in owning. Perhaps divide the class in to two have one group looking at the renting side and the other group looking at the owner-occupying side. They could produce a mini report on their findings.
This could be a great end of term mini project.
