Competition in Action - Wensleydale

Another great competition in action story here. This time it is cheese. Wensleydale cheese is undergoing a £1 million re-branding with the help of Wallace and Gromit.

Back in the early nineties the Wensleydale Creamery in North Yorkshire was close to bankruptcy. However its fortunes were transformed after the cheese was named as a favourite of Wallace and Gromit. The firm employs more than 1,000 workers.
Sales have soared to £22 million and profits in the year to last April rose 43 per cent to £434,000. Managing director David Hartley said: ‘Wallace & Gromit have probably boosted company sales by £63 million in the last 15 years.’
The new move will see Wallace and Gromit cookbooks being given out free to customers in a number of leading supermarkets.
