What follows is a list of the ten video clips I use when teaching inflation as a topic.
They are a mixed bunch. Some are useful for class use, others work as pointers to a series of video clips from one producer. What I’ve tried to avoid, however, are links to the teach yourself Economics resources (though obviously they have their place) that are out there.
Not exhaustive. And in no particular order…
The first is from a series, which I’m sure many blog readers will have already come across, by the BoE. These provide excellent background for students when consolidating topic material, preparing homeworks etc.
Unfortunately I’ve lost access to many of the excellent BBC video clips I had stored on Zimbabwe. I think this fills the gap somewhat.
This is of the same vein as above.
Zimbabwe is typically served up as an example in student responses. This is the first in a series on Pakistan, where we can see how inflation exacerbates absolute poverty.
This is the last in the series on Pakistan.
Animated cartoon on three costs of inflation.
I know this is from the BoE again, but since it focuses on QE I thought it merited singling out as a resource.
These next two are highly entertaining and would provide a nice Friday afternoon service. Again this is on QE, but instead focusing on the US.
The last one is currently my favourite music related Economics video - edging out DJ Econ’s Demand and Supply Rap.
