The speaker line-up for our June conference is almost complete and I am delighted to say that Linda Yueh, fellow in economics at Oxford University, a visiting professor at the London Business School, and an economics commentator appearing on broadcasters such as the BBC and CNN has agreed to give a presentation on the Chinese economy. Dr Yueh is Director of the China Growth Centre (CGC) at Oxford University and is an associate of the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her new book on “The Economy of China” provides an analytical view of the remarkable development of the most exciting economy in the world and is published in May. Delegates attending the conference will be able to get a signed copy ahead of the summer break!

We now have four speakers of tremendously high quality giving their perspectives on the applied economics and business issues from an age of volatility and uncertainty. In addition to Dr Yueh, we are delighted to welcome Hamish McRae from the Independent (whose new book “What Works: Success in Stressful Times” has received superb reviews. Jon Moulton - founder of Better Capital and one of the UK’s most experienced and prominent venture capitalists and an expert in business turnarounds will give his typically forthright views on prospects for UK business as the cycle turns. And Stephen King, Chief Global Economist at HSBC and author of a forthcoming book “Losing Control: Why the West’s Economic Prosperity Can No Longer be Taken for Granted” will give delegates the benefit of his vast experience in the markets.

Details of our main economics event of the year can be found here - there are some tremendous departmental deals for schools and colleges wanting to send colleagues to the Economics, Politics and Business Studies conferences at the British Library that week.
