The message about the private and social costs of rising obesity is being promoted pretty effectively at the moment.  However, it seems to have missed a restaurant in Michigan…

The “Absolutely Ridiculous Burger” is an appropriate name for a new product on offer at Mallie’s Sports Bar and Grill in Michigan.

Weighing in at 68 pounds, the ARB sells for US$350 (£178), and orders require 24 hours notice.  I’m guessing that delivery is extra.

The Daily Telegraph features the first ARB to roll off the production line.

I’m not quite sure what to think of the ARB.  On the one hand, the new product has generated plenty of publicity for the entrepreneurs behind the Sports Bar & Grill.  On the other, I’m not convinced that it sends out quite the right message about healthy eating.  Even if the topping is a bucket or two of fat-free dressing, I’m guessing that the ARB would do little for my tightening waistline.
