The BBC news page has a superb set of graphics on changing membership and usage of different social network sites - partly I suppose to mark the 500th million member of Facebook? You can find the data here.

Facebook has incredible mass membership and it has become THE utility for the digital generation. They have a tricky balancing act to tred between social value and advertising value. But it is no longer clear that anyone could delete / abandon their Facebook membership and still regard themselves as citizens of the 21st century.
