The Millennium Development Goals include ambitious targets to

o Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
o Achieve universal primary education
o Promote gender equality and empower women
o Reduce child mortality and improve maternal health
o Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
o Ensure environmental sustainability and develop a global partnership for development
