This is an excellent, very short video that gets across the key point about futures contracts
I always discuss the issue of speculation and futures trading with my classes whilst we’re studying commodities markets, but as this is a concept that is likely to be very alien to them I feel they often fail to fully appreciate what I’m talking about. Hopefully this video will explain how futures trading works- and at only a minute long it can surely only aid their understanding.
