Betting on the Nobel Prize for Economics
Recommend on Google+
13th October is the date for the announcement of the 2008 Nobel Prize for Economics. Some of the economists featuring in pre-announcement betting include:
Martin Feldstein
Thomas Sargent
Robert Barro
Paul Romer
Jagdish Bhagwati
Paul Krugman
Gregory Mankiw
The concentration of US economists is perhaps unavoidable given the past history of winners. It would be gratifying to think that someone such as Bhagwati might win it for his contributions to our understanding of globalisation especially in a year when the challenges facing globalisation have never been more starkly felt.
