There is the age-old question of whether a self-interested rational being can ever truly be altruistic.
This article at the FT provides food for thought.
Questions to think about:
- How much money do you actually need to live on (not how much you’d like to live on)?
- At what income levels does diminishing marginal utility of income kick in?
- Where do Pareto, Benthamite utilitarianism, and Rawlsian utility functions come into the discussion of income inequality?
