There is a new group of consumers out there who will do anything to take advantage of a sales promotion. Step forward the vouchinistas!
A really useful article in the Telegraph today describes how UK visitor attractions are using voucher-based sales promotions to boost visitor numbers during 2008.
The article suggests that UK visitor attractions normally charge some of the highest entrance fees in the world. However, consumers (particularly families) can make substantial savings if they participate in the wide range of promotional offers available.
For example, Walkers Crisps have enjoyed tremendous success with a promotion which allows people to swap points on packets of crisps for discounts on days out.
Two-for-one deals at the majority of Britain’s theme parks are available if you spend more than £40 at Sainsbury’s or if you are a Sky customer.
These are great examples of sales promotion in action. At the start of the new term, it might be worth asking whether any of your new business students took advantage of these kind of offers during the summer.
