Default behaviour - making choices without much conscious thought - explains many of our routine purchases in the supermarket. And when default behaviour is deeply engrained it can be difficult for new brands to make much headway. The Grocer has just published its list of the top ten grocery brands for 2009. Coca-cola, sales (2009) £1.01bn, has topped the list and the remaining nine can probably be found in the majority of baskets and trolleys heading through the check-outs this Easter weekend - the Telegraph has this neat slide show of the top ten brands.
