What will happen next to unemployment in the UK? Unemployment started rising from January 2008 during the previous recession and has plateaued at just under 8% of the working population. Will the economy grow sufficiently strongly to allow unemployment to start falling, or will the impending public sector spending cuts mean that unemployment starts to rise again during 2011.
