Employee pay is a key part of the operating costs of most private sector organisations and nearly every public sector one too.  Have private sector employees enjoyed better pay rises than their counterparts in the public sector in recent years?  Or did the recession mean than people in the private sector had to accept a decline in pay at a time when public sector pay was emerging relatively unscathed?  What will the effect of the public sector pay freeze be following the 2010 Comprehensive Spending Review?  You can check the data for yourself with this interactive chart which compares changes private and public sector pay each month…
