The Sense of a Goose

Clearing out my garage the other week, I came across one of my very first lesson plans. The lesson was on teamwork and leadership and it was for my first ‘formal’ observation by my University mentor.

Before I came into teaching, I worked for several years in retail management. At our monthly management meeting (several other store managers and the area manager) the area manager got us all to close our eyes, and he read (ever so slowly) a store entitled ‘the sense of a goose’. You can find it here. I still remember it to this day.

I used the sense of a goose in my observed lesson. Got the kids to close their eyes I did. Read it out real slow. Then got the students to discuss what it meant.

I used it as a starter today for my Year 13’s. The loved it. Especially closing their eyes.

I love this story, I hope you do too…...........
