The Housing Market: Innovation or Desperation?

WIth the advent of the credit crunch one Plymouth based estate agent has found a way of maintaining sales - allowing customers to part exchange their goods in return for deposits on holiday properties. A Maserati in exchange for a Dubai beach view apartment?

A story worthy of a starter discussion with pupils:

A sign of desperation in the housing market? or a merely confirmation that market forces always prevail in restoring liquidity in the long run?

Or perhaps, a “rational” econonmic decision - trade in a depreciating asset, to finance one that will appreciate over the long term!?
