Starter Activity: This isn’t my idea - its Terry’s (Market Segmentation)
Recommend on Google+

Not an activity as such, just a great visual way to consolidate the teaching of market segmentation….
After introducing the basic concept, I explain that the market is basically like a chocolate orange, and that it can be split into different segments. I then bring out the chocolate orange. I unwrap said orange and ask the class to come up with different ways in which we can segment the market. As they come up with ideas, I write them on the board and give each student a segment to eat.
Once we have exhausted all the ideas, I go back round the class and ask the remaining students to come up with examples to match the segments. Again, giving each student a piece of chocolate.
I did this recently with my Year 10’s, as well as with my AS group when teaching Unit 1 AQA. Always works a treat…..
