Starting Your own Business - David Lester

There are dozens of guides to business start-ups out there, some excellent, many awful.  However, I can recommend this new entrant to the market for advice to budding entrepreneurs.

Author David Lester has an impressive entrepreneurial track record and he is the publisher of the hugely useful startups.co.uk website.  More importantly, David writes in a lively, engaging way that conveys much of the excitement and stress (in equal measure) that start-up entrepreneurs experience.

I suppose, being in the publishing industry, I am particularly attracted to war stories from start-ups in the sector - the book is full of those.  However, I also appreciate the relevant and sensible advice that David imparts.  This is a really practical guide that will prove particularly useful for teachers wanting some background reading for the new AQA and Edexcel AS Business Studies units.
