Ryanair advert grounded by the ASA

Once again, Ryanair has proved its ability to generate substantial publicity with a newspaper advert that was quickly banned by the Advertising Standards Authority.
Here is the offending advert. ASA said the “irresponsible” image appeared to link teenage girls with sexually provocative behaviour.

The advert, which was printed in three newspapers reaching 3.5 million readers - the Herald, Daily Mail and Scottish Daily Mail - prompted 13 complaints to the ASA from readers who found it offensive.
Ryanair described the ASA ruling as “censorship”.
The result? A newspaper advert was shown which was never intended to be repeated. And Ryanair generate substantial free publicity for the airline. Another classic Ryanair PR success.
