Research Start-Ups! Team Challenge
Recommend on Google+

My first lesson with the AS students next week. Keen to get them buzzing about business start-ups, what better way than to set them a research task in the form of a team challenge!
In teams, the students will be given a card. Each card requires them to research and build a profile of a business start up, bringing in elements of the AQA spec. The cards are slightly different in that each one has an “essential terms” section containing different key terms. This section requires students to find the definitions of the terms and include them as part of their presentation. An opportunity for them to explore the tutor2u BUSS1 digital companion or the interactive BUSS1 Key Terms Glossary.
When the students have completed their research, the card also tells them how they should present the information, perhaps as a newspaper article, roving reporters, postcard profile or as a presentation using PowerPoint.
The activity has been provided on PowerPoint.
- Slide 1 provides an introduction that can be shown to the class
- Slide 2 is the Challenge Guide, explaining the card and icons
- Slide 3 contains the cards, to be printed, cut out and handed to the students.
Note – remarkably, I have found putting the card in an envelope and giving to students adds to their excitement.
Enjoy!
