As the BUSS4 research topic reaches the students it is useful to be able to steer them towards something to get the process started. Finding something they can do alongside other work should help to motivate them as they feel their way into the topic.

Accenture have a series of podcasts on the topic of mergers and acquisitions, which, although they adopt a fairly dry approach, have elements that target the research bullet points.

This podcast on mastering the art of value in merger integration covers some of the elements in bullet points 2 (the problems of takeovers and mergers including difficulties integrating businesses successfully) and 3 (the factors influencing the succes of takeovers and mergers).

The podcasts were published in 2009, so have elements of recession planning, but this should not prevent students from getting some of the relevant material (and may in fact be more useful than current examples).

I will be pointing my students towards this series as something they can do, whilst trawling their Facebook timeline! As they find more relevant material, I will add it to this entry.
