Magic Whiteboards

I received some of tutor2u’s new ‘magic whiteboards’ over the weekend and used them today in class for the first time. An amazing, amazing idea with loads of uses to enhance teaching and learning.

The whiteboards come in a roll of perforated sheets (each is A1 size - i.e. the same size as a sheet of flipchart paper) and you simply tear them off. They use static to stick to any hard surface.

In my first lesson today, I put one on the door and put a few marker pens next to it. I asked the students (as they were leaving) to write on one thing they had learned in today’s lesson. I then unpeeled it from the door and put it in my cupboard for next lesson to use as a starter.

In my third lesson, I placed one on a wall in the middle of the room and did part of my teaching from there. It completely changed the focus of the lesson and got students who sit away from the board ‘closer to the action’.

I have already thought of a number of other ways to use them in my teaching which I will blog about once I have used them in class.

If anyone is interested in the magic whiteboards, they can be obtained from the link below.
